Something more ecstatic

I think poets live in a world
that is maybe a tissue-thin layer away
from the divine.

So I am always reading poetry
in order to sidle up, through their words,
into something more ecstatic.

I think we need to boot
our mobile phones into the ocean,
and walk around reciting
Emily Dickinson.

She’s such a genius that she makes poetry
seem easy.

I lifted this week’s piece from an interview with author Lauren Groff.

Dream intentionally - and read poetry - while you’re awake.
