On humans

If human beings are there,
I’m at home.

Human beings should understand
how other humans feel
no matter where they are,
no matter what their language or culture is,
no matter their age, and
no matter the age in which they live.

On courage

I realised that one isn’t born with courage.
One develops it by doing small courageous things.
You do small courageous things
that requires some mental and spiritual exertion.

On priorities

Realise your priorities.
It would seem the priority is
to keep a job so you can pay the bills.

But the priority is
to let the child know
he or she is loved.

On kindness

Which accolades matter most to you,
and why?

I like for people to say I’m kind.
It means that I’m still learning
and that I’m able to forgive.

‘Maya Angelou’ worked as a cook, streetcar conductor, waitress, singer, dancer, editor, teacher, civil rights organiser, and actress before becoming one of America’s most beloved writers. Angelou was interviewed for HBR in May 2013.

I FOUND these pieces in that article.

Dream intentionally - while you’re awake.
