Digital Pharmakeia

Digital heroin | Electronic cocaine.

Tech-filled society where
screens are ubiquitous.

Ubiquitous glowing screens.

Screens increase depression, anxiety
and aggression - psychotic-like
features.

Devices are taken away -
aggressive temper tantrums.

Wandering attention spans
when not perpetually stimulated by
hyper-arousing devices.

Alone, alienated, purposeless
and bored. Lose touch with reality.

Addictive escape.

Apathetic, uninteresting and
uninterested when

not plugged in.

For a hyper-aroused nervous system
to reset itself -

extreme digital detox.

I ‘Found’ this piece in an article - ‘It’s ‘digital heroin’: How screens turn kids into psychotic junkies.’ by Dr. Nicholas Kardaras, 2016.

Dream (and think) intentionally - while you’re awake

Part 2 of the last week promised, Centrism, will drop next week. I had cause to digress into the dark side of tech last weekend - which prompted ‘Digital Pharmakeia’.
