Desires: there’s no chance of boredom

Desires: there’s no chance of boredom

Wholly satisfying, forever untainted,
ageless and reliable, desires are so
desirable.

They come in a great many varieties,
artistic, sporting, intellectual, epicurean.

Desires attach to ambition, to ideas,
to music, to art, to literature,
to others.

Most desires are created by the mind
and there they can stay - no need to
subject them to reality to enjoy their
pleasures and enlightenment.

Desires, imagined desires, untainted by reality
are never disappointed.

There’s little to equal imagined desires.
They are bold, curious, energetic,
and productive. Aside from reality
there’s nothing to stop them.

How bland and static life would be
without desires.

And they are portable - where I go
so too my desires.

Andrea Goldsmith (Review March 2025) presented the raw materials for this week’s patchwork piece.

Dream intentionally - while you’re awake.
